Thai PE remains on a stable to softer track in China, supplier claims reduced pressure

A major Thailand producer opens fresh PE offers to China on the second trading day of the week at $1350/to for HDPE film, unchanged from the previous price announcement while cutting metallocene PE (mPE) by $20/ton to 1260-1270/ton, all based on CFR China, LC AS term.

Other grades are not available, a source close to the producer said, claiming sold out LDPE cargoes to Northern China customers, where demand from the agricultural film sector started to pick up.

“We are not having quantity for HDPE either while production for LLDPE film has not been recovered. It is safe to say that we are free from any sales pressure at the moment. The market seems to regain some stabilization and any downward adjustment in the coming days might only be a result of the strengthening US dollar,” the source added.
