Indonesian players on the first trading day of the week received fresh PP and PE price list from a major local producer with moderate to large reduction from the previous week on top of the backdrop of worsening COVID-19 outbreak here.

The reduction is very much anticipated among domestic buyers given the falling demand condition here due to the outbreak and the recent ban on single-use plastic bags.
“The producer has to implement price cuts regardless of the depreciation of the local currency against the US dollar and the supply tightness in the regional market, which underlines the weak demand in the domestic ground. We have sufficient materials for now, hence, have no plan for new purchases,” a buyer said.
Sources said that local producers might focus on the export market in the coming days as local demand outlook does not seem bullish in the near term.
