Emergency shutdown at Kuwait's EQUATE Ethylene unit

According to market sources, EQUATE Group is planning to shut its Ethylene Unit 2 (EU2) today due to unexpected technical issues.

Based in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the unit has an ethylene production capacity of 850,000 tons/year. It is expected to remain off-stream for about 2 weeks, meanwhile a source closed to the company informed that the downstream units including etyhelne glycol (EG) and polyethylene unit (PE) might be affected as well.
