Emergency shutdown at Thailand’s PTT LDPE plant

Market sources reported that PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) unexpectedly shut its LDPE plant on 28 November 2018 due to unspecified technical glitches.

Based in Map Ta Phut, Thailand, the plant is able to produce 300,000 tons/year of LDPE. The plant might remain off-line for about a month.

As a result, players reported tightness for Mi: 4 grades, which attracted some import cargoes. “However, we do not expect the situation to worsen since we are having comfortable stock on hand,” a source close to the producer informed.
