South Korea’s Hanwha Total to expand cracker in Daesan

According to market sources, Hanwha Total Petrochemical Co is planning to shut its LPG cracker in Daesan site in South Korea for expansion in March 2021.

The unit is expected to remain offline for 45 days, from 1 March 2021 to 15 April 2021.

The gas cracker is currently having an annual output of 300,000 tons/year of ethylene and 80,000 tons/year of propylene. Once the expansion works are completed, the capacity would be raised to 450,000 tons/year of ethylene and 130,000 tons/year of propylene.

Hanwha also owns another cracker at the same site, processing naphtha with the capacity of 1.1 million tons/year of ethylene and 860,000 tons of propylene.
