Chinese PVC inched lower in Malaysia

In a notable shift, import PVC offers from Chinese suppliers have softened in the Malaysian market, defying the upward pressure from elevated shipping costs that have underpinned firm sentiment in recent weeks.

Latest indications show ethylene-based PVC offers dipping below the $650/ton mark, while carbide-based cargoes have retreated to below $640/ton, both on CIF Malaysia terms.

Market sources suggest the price cuts may be linked to weakening demand from Indian buyers for this specific origin, prompting Chinese suppliers to adopt a more aggressive pricing strategy in Southeast Asia. The move appears aimed at accelerating stock movement ahead of the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, which is expected to curb trading activity during the extended holiday period.

India’s CPMA Files Petition for Anti-Dumping Probe on LLDPE Imports

India’s Chemicals and Petrochemicals Manufacturers Association (CPMA) has formally submitted a request to initiate an anti-dumping investigation into imports of LLDPE from seven countries: Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the authorities have acknowledged receipt of the application and assigned a case number. The investigation will proceed in accordance with the relevant legal framework, including applicable acts, rules, and procedural guidelines.

CPMA, which represents the interests of India's domestic chemical and petrochemical industry, is a key body advocating for measures to protect member companies from what it perceives as unfair practices while promoting innovation and technology development.
