Malaysian Producer Unveils Local PP, PE Offers at Stable to Softer Levels
A leading Malaysian producer has announced its October PP and PE offers to the domestic spot market, setting levels broadly stable to slightly softer in line with market expectations.
Despite the fresh offers, buying interest has remained subdued as converters adopt a cautious stance, weighing the near-term supply outlook amid persistent concerns over further price erosion.
Market sources noted that, in addition to the anticipated restart of PrefChem’s operations, reduced export flows to Indonesia could see a larger volume of material retained for the domestic market. At the same time, industry participants are closely watching ongoing discussions over a potential trade agreement that could lower—or even eliminate—import duties on US-origin cargoes.

Chinese PP Producers Cut Export Offers Ahead of Golden Week
Major Chinese producers trimmed export homo-PP offers by up to $10/ton early this week as trading slowed ahead of the extended National Day holiday. Despite additional volume-based discounts, the latest offers struggled to draw interest from overseas buyers, particularly in Southeast Asia.
“We do not plan to implement significant cuts at this stage,” a producer source said, noting that one production line has already been shut to manage inventories. “We prefer to observe post-holiday market developments before considering further adjustments,” the source added.
