Indonesia's polyolefin rally extends into multiple sessions as producer keeps hiking

An Indonesian producer has issued repeated price revisions over several sessions this week, including three successive hikes on Wednesday, as surging feedstock costs and firm downstream demand keep sentiment bullish.

Gains have been broad based across the polyolefin complex, with buyers restocking cautiously even as talk builds around fresh psychological thresholds. The rally has also begun reviving import interest, though relief from the usual regional fallback sources appears more limited this time.

South Korea greenlights major cracker consolidation as restructuring push gathers pace

Seoul has signed off on a new phase of petrochemical restructuring in Yeosu, clearing a tie-up between several major producers that will strip a significant slice of naphtha cracking capacity from the region alongside a sizeable state support package. The move builds on an earlier restructuring deal and pushes the government's nationwide capacity reduction drive well past the halfway mark toward its target.

Producers involved are expected to pivot output toward higher value, specialty grades as regional oversupply pressure continues to weigh on margins. Focus now shifts to another major complex, where talks have moved more slowly amid diverging views among producers on how deep cuts should go.
