Explosion at China’s NingXia Dongyi methanol plant, disruption at MTO PP and PE supply expected

A gas leak led to an explosion at the NingXia Dongyi Environmental Protection Technology’s coke gas to methanol plant on 18 April 2024 at 1:54 am, causing two fatalities and four injuries. The fire was extinguished at 3:40 AM and related authorities launched an investigation into the causes of the incident.

NingXia Dongyi is a subsidiary and fully owned by Baofeng Energy Group, Ningdong, Ningxia, China. The coke gas to methanol plant where the incident took place boasts a production capacity of 200,000 tons/year.
