China's homo-PP and PE export offers ease after multi-week rally, but fail to spark fresh buying

Chinese homo-PP yarn and LLDPE film export offers pulled back this week, snapping a five-to-seven week uptrend that had lifted prices 12% and 15% respectively. The reversal tracks thin domestic trading heading into Golden Week, with PP and LLDPE futures posting a fifth straight session of losses through 23 September, compounded by crude's own five-session slide into 22 September.

The pullback, however, has been too modest to draw regional buyers back in. Overseas customers remain reluctant to commit, with the earliest loading from China now pushed to mid-October, a lead time buyers see as too distant for prompt cover. In Vietnam, a Chinese trading house's tiered pricing by loading month has added to the hesitation, with the wide gap between October and December levels feeding concern that sellers themselves are losing confidence in the year-end outlook, discouraging buyers from locking in cargoes that could arrive into a softer market.

Asia PVC firms as Taiwanese producer pushes fifth straight hike, India hit hardest

Asia's PVC market enters October on firmer footing after a leading Taiwanese producer raised its pricelist on 22 September, marking a fifth consecutive increase with India absorbing the steepest rise. The move reflects ten straight weeks of rising ethylene costs rather than any pickup in downstream demand, with the producer defending margins through pricing discipline even after a lukewarm response to its previous round.

That resistance was visible in the region this week, where more competitive duty-free cargoes undercut the Taiwanese offers, while Indian buyers stayed cautious as crude extended losses and sentiment further eroded as Chinese PVC futures notched a sixth straight down session, up to 18 September.
